Yeardley is premiering at the Sunset 5 in Hollywood, Ca on October 29th through November 4th.

Yeardley is an award-winning controversial feature film that follows a selfish husband and father coming unhinged during the economic downturn. After being fired for sexual harassment, his wife and child leave him. While fighting to keep his family together, he falls victim to a scheme by two manipulative women who make a bet to see which of them can sleep with him first.

Producer Paul Papadeas said, “I believe we take the typical American theme of redemption and turn it on its head. For many, there is never a way out of a poor choice, not if they can never truly learn from the mistake.”

This marks the feature film debut of writer/director Heath C. Michaels. “For me, having Yeardley play on the historic Sunset Boulevard is nothing short of a dream,“ said Michaels upon hearing the news, “The Sunset 5 is decidedly the highest regarded theater for independent films like Yeardley. This will truly be a remarkable and unforgettable experience for all of us.”

Yeardley was shot in and around Los Angeles, CA and Valencia, CA with a budget of $15,000. In spring of 2010 it gained the attention of Jerry Dalton of Dalton Pictures who signed the film for worldwide distribution.  Said Dalton, “If you know anything about me or our company, you know that we love true indie films, the heart, passion, and drive that exists is what it is all about, and Yeardley is one of the best. When you watch what Heath, Paul and the rest of the crew were able to accomplish with the budget they had, you will be amazed. When you watch Yeardley, you are immediately drawn into the film. Casting, acting, sound and visuals all hit a perfect stride. The characters are believable, and the character development is flawless, sound is great, and the camera work does not disappoint either. Yeardley is edgy because it deals with real life situations, which I like. Heath and Paul pulled off an almost impossible feat when you consider the budget they worked with. The ending will be sure to create much water cooler talk! Very unique.”

YEARDLEY: WINNER of BEST FEATURE at the 2010 MALIBU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

YEARDLEY WINS BEST FEATURE AWARD AT THE 2010 MALIBU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

[MAY 2, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA] The 11th annual Malibu International Film Festival was held April 29th through May 1st 2010 at various upscale locations within the scenic Malibu beach community. This annual event, founded in 1999 by Producer David Katz with the support of philanthropist Lilly Lawrence, has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the film year. This year a total of seven awards were given by the festival.

This year’s BEST FEATURE winner was Sandi Gary Films LLC’s YEARDLEY,  a disturbing drama about a married narcissist becoming unhinged during the economic downturn. It was written and directed by Heath C. Michaels, produced by Paul Papadeas and stars Jesse Bernstein, Saskia Grace Holmes, Garrett Geoghegan, Rebecca Holopter, Madison Palasini and Dave Huevel.

This is the first feature length film for Michaels, who had this to say after winning the award, “We always knew Yeardley was a special movie. It’s a throwback to the great films of the 70s, and this continual positive response from audience members and film festivals has demonstrated just how special this movie really can be. We didn’t need a big budget to do what we did; we just needed passion and bucketfuls of elbow grease.”

Yeardley was shot in and around Los Angeles, CA and Valencia, CA with a budget of $15,000. The film currently has non-exclusive limited theatrical distribution for the U.S. starting this summer, May 2010, through Dalton Pictures & Entertainment Company.

YEARDLEY IS AN OFFICIAL SELECTION AT THE 2010 MALIBU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

[April 20, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA] Yeardley will be screening at the Malibu International Film Festival as an OFFICIAL SELECTION. The festival will be held April 29 through May 1 in 2010 in Malibu, CA. This will be the first Los Angeles based festival for the film.

“It’s great to be accepted into Malibu International Film Festival,” said Producer of Yeardley, Paul Papadeas, “because Yeardley is a local film shot in and around the Los Angeles area. This is the first feature length film for Writer/Director Heath C. SANTA FE FILM FESTIVAL 2009

Yeardley made its world debut at the 10th Annual Santa Fe Film Festival where it was nominated for BEST FEATURE alongside such films as THE ONLY GOOD INDIAN starring Wes Studi and HANDSOME HARRY starring Steve Buscemi and Aidan Quinn.

“It was an honor to receive the Best Picture Nomination and compete against a group of excellent and diverse films which included actors such as Steve Buscemi, Campbell Scott and Wes Studi,” said Producer Paul Papadeas when asked about the nomination.

MYRTLE BEACH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2009

Yeardley wins two awards at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival! The lead actor, Jesse Bernstein, won BEST ACTOR and the film received 1st Runner Up for BEST FEATURE.

“We were unable to attend the screenings due to our world premiere at the Santa Fe International Film Festival,” commented Producer Paul Papadeas,”but are ecstatic that Jesse Bernstein was able to capture the BEST ACTOR award. It was well deserved by someone who gave everything to his performance.”

NEVADA FILM FESTIVAL 2009

Yeardley wins a Platinum Reel Award in the 2009 Nevada Film Festival for “standout filmmaking” by the judges.

IDYLLWILD INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF CINEMA 2010

Yeardley is an official selection for the upcoming Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema to be held in January 2010.

Associate Producer Heather Byrd, actress Saskia Grace Holmes (Susan in Yeardley) and Director/Writer Heath C. Michaels sat in with Santa Fe’s longest running daily radio talk show host, Diego Mulligan, on his current show The Journey Home (KSFR 101.1 FM, Santa Fe Public Radio).

The conversation shifted from the mix of emotions the film creates in the audience to the central message of communication, value of family and forgiveness.

YEARDLEY SCREENING AT 2009 MYRTLE BEACH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

[November 10, 2009 – Los Angeles, CA] Yeardley will be screening at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival on the 5th of December, 2009. The festival is to be held from the 1st to the 5th of December, 2009 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

This marks a momentous occasion for the filmmakers as a large number of them hail from the Carolinas. The Director, Heath C. Michaels, and Producer, Paul Papadeas, are both natives of North Carolina.  They met in 1995 in film school at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC where they sparked a friendship and a collaborative working relationship they’re happy has brought them back to the Carolinas by way of Los Angeles.

Upon hearing the news, Michaels said: “I’m extremely excited to show Yeardley at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival. Myrtle Beach holds a lot of dear memories. I know my parents will be attending, because they live in the Myrtle Beach area; or just on the outside of it in Little River. It fills me with a great feeling of accomplishment for them to have a place so close to them where they can see it projected on the big screen!”

Other graduates of the North Carolina School of the Arts film program who worked on the production of Yeardley include Cinematographer Tarina Reed, Music Composer Steve Pedulla, and Editors Keven Hickman and Zene Baker.

2009 NEVADA FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS PLATINUM REEL AWARD TO YEARDLEY

[October 19, 2009 – Los Angeles, CA] Yeardley wins a Platinum Reel Award in the 2009 Nevada Film Festival for “standout filmmaking” by the judges. The Nevada Film Festival is to be held November 20th and 21st, 2009 at the Rampart Casino at the Resort in Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Yeardley will not screen at the Nevada Film Festival and will be holding its World Premiere status for the 2009 Santa Fe Film Festival.
